Yes, you can replace your lead-acid battery with a lithium-ion battery. LiFePO4 leisure batteries are more efficient and don’t need to be replaced as often. We can install lithium-ion batteries here at AMC MotorCaravans.

You should get your motorhome serviced once a year to ensure it is in good condition and safe to drive. 

Ideally you wound want to carry out a habitation check at least once a year, but every two years is also fine. We do recommend to carry out an inspection of gas and electrics at least once a year.

No, a habitation check is not a legal requirement. However, most insurance companies or warranties require you to complete habitation checks periodically.

No, the two are different and one cannot replace the other. A service looks at the mechanical components of the motorhome, a habitation check focuses on the living areas.

A motorhome habitation check concentrates on the living area of your vehicle, and is designed to keep arguably the most used part of your motorhome habitable. For vehicles still under warranty, you may find that habitation checks are required to keep the warranty valid, so it’s even more important to adhere to the recommendations if this is the case. 

Your insurance may advise you to use one of their motorhome repairers, but ultimately, the choice is yours. Here at AMC MotorCaravans will contact your insurer for you if you decide to have our Motorhome specialists carry out the repairs. 

If your motorhome gets damaged and you want to claim insurance, make sure you have everything documented by taking clear photographs and collecting any other supporting documents. Make sure to submit the claim within the time-frame required by your insurance company.

Your vehicle needs a Class 7 MOT if its maximum allowable mass (MAM) is between 3,000kg and 3,500kg. This applies to larger vehicles, typically those over about 7 metres in length or those with substantial equipment and furnishings that push them over the 3,000kg threshold. To determine if your vehicle needs Class 7 testing, check the vehicle identification plate, which shows the MAM. If it states 3,001kg or higher (up to 3,500kg), you'll need Class 7 testing.
